Brian was able to do a rural rotation in family medicine with Dr. Brown in Richfield for three weeks. He loved his experience there, and we all loved staying with my family during that time. We got lots of special Grandpa and Grandma, Aunt and Uncle time, and the kids played out on the farm almost constantly.
Bracken was so excited to do his "Wilderness Survival Club" while in Richfield. One afternoon he built this shelter out of the woodpile. He was convinced he was going to sleep in it that night, but as it got darker, colder, and started to rain, he changed his mind. :) But he spent plenty of time reading out there, writing in his nature notebook, and chasing the chickens away from his shelter.
The kids worked so hard to start their own fire. Finally, with a little help, they got it going. (Uncles are the best, especially uncles that have their own hatches and know how to use a lighter). Bracken wanted to have a meal of things that he found on the farm. In the end, they found some hot dogs in Grandma's fridge and picked some apples which they roasted on sticks and called delicious.

Chandra was not to be outdone on creating a shelter. She used leftover tomato cages and garden materials to make a shelter in the back yard. Then she beautified it with grass, leaves, and a doorbell. She was so cute and so proud of herself!
Halloween...Time to Carve Pumpkins with Daddy!
Grandma helped Chandra carve a jack'o'lantern with a face on one side and Ariel on the other. Bracken and Tyson carved cowboys and Dallin carved cowboy logos.
I loved our time in Richfield. No other responsibilities, lots of help with my kids and lots of opportunities to chip in and help with my mom and siblings. I was able to read, think, plan and set goals. I did so many fun things with my kids: library trips, 4-wheeler rides almost every day, walks on dirt roads to see all the farm animals, we read tons of books, jumped on the trampoline, and the girls took baths almost every day. We smashed cattails until the road looked like it had snowed. We played around the storage units. They played outside-a lot-without me. My mom and I exercised every morning together and were able to talk all the time. Brian was busy, but we still had family time. It really was a blessing to be able to do an away rotation in Richfield.
Grandpa Rudy and Grandma Ginger came to visit while we were there! Grandpa is always up for a game of chess with the kids...and Chandra is always up for a snuggle.

Sometimes Kinsey lets people besides me love on her, and other times she's a stinker. But when Grandpa offered to feed her waffles they became fast best friends. At the hospital Trunk or Treat. Even Brian dressed up...at the request of Dr. Brown, who was AColonel Sanders...as a chicken. We had a cowboy, a regular baby, a mom with a borrowed masquerade mask, a chicken, and a princess. Fun day!
Brian really enjoyed his time working with Dr. Brown. As time goes on he continues to feel more and more sure that Family Practice is the specialty he wants to go into. We loved our month in Richfield! Thanks for all the fun memories family!
